How do I switch off my 8mo at night?

He is never still. He is crawling and pulling himself up on furniture, constantly on the move. He has always been a rubbish sleeper but unless having a reaction to some food or another, has usually been reasonably quick to settle in the boob at night. But just now he just can't seem to settle to sleep. He is pawing, grabbing, leg shaking, wriggling or whatever and keeping himself awake doing it. If he wakes and is fed he is tired, eyes shut, but moaning/whining and wriggling so much that he just can't get so sleep. I've ended up trying to hold him in a strait jacket position to keep him still and he has eventually dropped off after screaming blue murder for a while but this can't be a long term solution, particularly for my other Los who are as sleep deprived as me!
