8 month DS - sleeping on side

My fears are probably unfounded but my DS has started to sleep on his side. You are told all the time to put them on their backs but does it matter at 8mths? He seems calmer on his side. He can roll onto his front (but not get back onto his back) and has started trying to crawl (backwards!). Is this OK?

It's fine. DD started sleeping on her front as soon as she could roll over (about 5mo). I think if you try and put them back on their backs they a) get annoyed and wake up or b) roll straight back over.
