Hi folks

So I have a 1 year old who wont sleep unless shes being held. She doesnt need rocked just held. Shes not on the dummy and has been weaned off of bottles aswell. She has a bath and sippy cup of hot milk before being settled but putting her in her cot is a big no no as soon as shes in her cot shes wide eyed soon as I leave the room shes crying and sobbing. Soon as shes lifted up again she stops and goes back to sleep. Whenshe does finally settle around 11 or 12ish its only until 4 or 5 when shes back up so I end up taking her into bed where we both fall asleep then when I wake up I put her back. Sleep inst the only problem tho she will follow me around no matter where I go she has to come. Taking my 5 yr old to nursery I used to leave herat the room door and walk a few feet infront of her to sign her sister in and even tho she could see me she would scream and turn reddy purple in the face now i have to take her out of the pram. Although she wont settle for her dad no matter what he does but she does follow him around alittle bit. Please any advice on this would be very much appreciated.

Sounds exhausting.
Will she not settle in the evening at all? Even if you laid down with her?
Think there will be 2 types of advice.

  1. Co-sleep. Settle her in bed, sneak out, then go back when you want to and sleep with her through the night.
  2. Some form of tough love. Maybe controlled crying.
You need to decide which one you can live with and then see what advice is available for that option. Good luck!
