Constantly waking baby

We co sleep and are very attachment led. Our set up a bedside cot flush against my side of the bed and DS sleeps in that and either stays in it until I go to bed and I roll him in with me, or we hold hands and he stays where he is.

He's just turned 7 months. My issue is from his bedtime until my bedtime. Some nights he'll sleep 7pm-11pm, other nights he's awake every 15-30 minutes. He goes to sleep fine but just can't stay asleep. We found out he had some pretty severe allergies but those are mostly sorted out.

I was pretty lax about his naps - now I'm thinking he needs to learn all sleeping is done in our bed/bedside cot. I'm camping out in our room for the next month every evening because running upstairs every half hour is doing my head in! I'm hoping seeing me there will eventually teach him he can go back to sleep. He can self settle and I'm not interested in any CC methods - I just want to understand.

There's no rhyme or reason - every night the routine and bedtime is exactly the same. I just can't understand these wakings - does anyone know?

Anyone - please? I just want to understand. As with all other babies, he used to sleep through. I don't care about the night wakings as he's only awake a little while. But I'm worried he's no getting enough if he's waking so regularly between 7 and 11.
