cold bedroom - 13 degrees.

With the sudden onset of this cold weather we are having i am struggling to keep the bedroom to 16 degrees - the boiler is currently out of order till saturday so no heating!!
The gro egg is at 13 degrees and that now - early evening, its going to get colder, it gets down to around 12 degrees.
Baby is 5 months old now and he sleeps in his cot bed in a thick sleeping bag, i think its either a 3 or 3.5 togg, it does not say in the label but he has a 2.5 and its thicker than this.....
Thing is his little hands and arms are really cold and his nose is too. He sleeps with a vest and sleepsuit and his 3/3.5 togg bag but am concerned he is not warm enough. I have popped a cellular blanket over the top but worry about him over-heating.
He sleeps well and never wakes up cold. However in the morning he always has freezing hands not just cold but there like ice!!
Any one have any suggestions?!

Could you borrow a heater from friend or neighbour that would heat up the room before bed?

We've had our room at 14C but our DD would wake up with that temp.

Have you seen the new Gro-suits? They have padded/quilted sleeves to keep baby warm. Scratch mitts for the hands? We used Next babygrows up to 6 months as they have the integrated scratch mitts.

My daughter was born in January. Our house is very cold and our bedroom temperature was about the same as yours. Similar sleeping set-up as you with 3 tog gro bag and freezing hands! I started putting socks on hands! Worked a treat and they stayed on better than mitts. Hope this helps

We had a cold house and would put a long sleeved top/sweat shirt that was too big for him over the top of his sleep suit on colder nights. That way the sleeves went over his hands and he stayed nice and warm.

I remember HV telling me cold hands fine - as long as their torso feels warm then don't worry.

Our dcs' bedroom is freezing too - I do sympathise. Sometimes in the depths of winter I used to tuck a thin blanket over the grobag. Or does a long-sleeved vest help?

another one saying oil filled radiator - better still if you can borrow one, but argos used to sell them fairly cheaply.

Our bedroom wasn't heated overnight when children were young - DS had vest, sleep suit and cardi on plus bedding. He was fine. . We had a powercut which lasted for 3 days when he was a couple of weeks old & there were no probs there either.
I think in Sweden they let babies sleep outside in the day in sub zero temps/
