right, some good old mn wisdom needed,

ds is 17 weeks today.

he was sleeping...

8pm - 11pm (feed) then 11.45pm - 8am

then he started waking earlier - about 6.30/7am isn which is fine.

well, now he seems to have decided 5.15 is more appropriate. he has been pretty steady with the 6.30/7am for ages until this week when he's woke at 5.15/5.20 each morning.

is there anything i can do to get back to what we had ir is it a case of put up and shut up until he changes it up again. i really dont want it just getting earlier and earlier.

after waking up earlier yesterday he was abs shattered throughout the day - napped far more than usual but then was difficult come bedtime.

any suggestions?

Ta x

just to add....

he got tired and cranky at half 7 so put him down for a nap but he was awake and screaming after half hour.

There is a well known sleep regression at 4 months, and this could be part of it, in which case you might need to just ride it out.

There's a technique called 'wake to sleep' which can help with early waking, you go in and wake them gently an hour before they are waking naturally, they go back to sleep with their sleep cycle reset and it sees them through the early waking point and they wake up later. I've never used it myself but it might be worth a google.

Otherwise, have you got blackout blinds? It could be the earlier sunrise waking him up?

Right, I fear i'm on a slippery slope here....

The last 2 nights, ds has been absolutely shattered come bedtime and then within 15/30 mins of being put down in his cot has woken up - I have then given him a little more milk. Last night he went back to bed at 9.30, then slept through to 7am. Today he has napped throughout the day - his only proper one being this afternoon where we ended up having to go and wake him to give him his next feed - this was already an hour late as we had left him to sleep.
So, tonight - we have done shower and bedtime bottle - put him to bed and again, within 20 mins wide awake. DH is giving him some more food now and trying to get him down again.

I really don't want to end up with him napping so long in the day that he will not sleep at night. Or missing out feeds so he ends up waking in the night as he's hungry from missing feeds

I'm really having trouble finding what works for him and starting to feel completely lost. Please can someone help me here...
