16mo sleeping less. Why?

My almost 16mo dd has started sleeping less (and much less than recommended for her age).

She seemed to be transitioning from 2 naps to 1 but at the moment has 2 most days albeit quite short naps.

Our day used to look like this:

6.15-7am - wake
10-11- nap
2.30-3.15/30 - nap
7.00/7.15pm - sleep for night (self settling, mostly sleeping through)
*sometimes just 1 nap of between 1hr and 1.5hrs at about 12noon.

So she was always getting at least 11 hours at night - minimum.

Anyway over the past month-6 weeks she has gradually started being more wakeful in the night and waking earlier. And this is regardless of whether she has 1 nap or 2.

Our day started to look more like this:
5.30 - wake
10-10.45/11 - nap
2.30-3.15 - nap
7.15 - sleep. Sometimes she isn't settling until 7.30 or 7.45!

  • the same even with a nap at 12 noon.

She seems to be getting so restless at night and getting somtimes not much more than 11.5hrs sleep in 24hrs.

Anyone have any suggestions as to why this might be or what I could do to improve the situation?
