How do we get past 5am waking? If he goes down at 8.30 he wakes at 5, with wakes in between. Tried an hour later and still the same result! How can I try bringing this time on a bit. Baby is 16weeks

Put him to bed earlier. Seriously.

For a couple.of days do 8.15, then 8pm and so on. Apparently if they go down over tired they have such a deep sleep that it only needs to be a short one.

Another thing we used to do was treat the 5am.start as a night waking, so sleepy feed in the dark.and back to bed.

Hi thanks. I will try the putting down earlier each night. I've tried treating 5am as a night feed and when I sneak out I think he's gone off but 15 mins later he's away chatting. Hoping the clocks going forward will help also x

16 weeks and is sleeping 8pm to 5pm? Sounds brilliant to me!!

yellowhousewithareddoor · 29/03/2013 06:19

I was thinking that llama. Its different past a year, but at 15 weeks I'd say it was pretty good!

My ds is 5.5 and woke me up at 5.45! Some kids just don't sleep, sorry. The best you can do is block out light in bedroom. Stick to a good bedtime routine/bedtime and hope!

cupcake78 · 29/03/2013 06:35

I thought you said 16 mths not 16 weeks. You do know many parents would kill for a child that sleeps that much.

Ds woke 4-5 times every night till nearly 3! Count your blessings

CarlyRose80 · 29/03/2013 07:38

Just for the record he doesn't sleep all night. He wakes once for a feed and normally twice for nothing so I just tuck him back in. So it's not a 9 hour stretch like it appears to be.

Hi MortifiedAdams, put baby to bed 15 mins early so 7.45. Work at 12 for nothing. 4.30 for bottle and 5.45 awake so an improvement. Thanks.

Ds had a phase where he thought the day started at 5.15
But he has changed and I just try to go with him! We had a nightmare start to this week 3 wakings and up at silly o'clock when we had gone 7.30-5.30, quick feed then til 7.15
Got back to normal now sat in dark (ish) feeding as been up 1 and 4 (I haven't had enough sleep let alone ds)
Hope he improves his sleep soon x
