Where did the daytime naps go??

My 15 week old had just got in tona good day time napping routine, 3 decent naps and then an ok night sleep. But now the naps have just stopped. He barely has an hour at a time and will just not sleep. I put him down as normal, no changes and he just screams and screams and ends up being awake for anything from 3 hours up to 4 and by then as you can imagine he's exhausted. I just don't see why he's suddenly stopped the normal nap routine. Any help?? I do all the obvious, nappy, feed, wind etc.......

I seem to remember DD going through this at the same age and I really wore myself out trying to get her to sleep for what felt like 24/7. I reverted to taking her for walks in the buggy a lot. That's probably not very helpful and I was then left with the battle of trying to get her to nap in her crib again!! Do you think maybe your missing the window of tiredness? Try putting him down a bit earlier, i think at that age DD had gaps of awake time of 1hr 45m. Now i think about it she had been just over 2hrs and soon as i reduced the gap it got better.

Yeah honestly that's what I normally do, from when he's been little i always put him down 15 minutes before I knew he's be ready for a sleep and he'd just lay there and then drift off. Like I say all has been well up until the last 2 days, I reckon he's had 2 hours all day since he got up at 6.30am. My hubby says "maybe he's not tired" but he just don't get the whole baby cycle!! It's such hard work. He's just gone to bed an hour early as he's so tired and I need the peace before I explode. Hope it's just a phase again:-(

Has he got tummy ache?

CarlyRose80 · 25/03/2013 05:49

Not that I have noticed as he's happy when he's getting the attention. It literally is a sleep thing or lack of it. We are up now at 5.30 lol because he was in bed extra early!!

Perhaps its just a phase. Maybe a growth spurt. He isnt teething is he?

Google four month sleep regression. It's a developmental phase they go through. Can affect all sleeps so just be glad he's still ok at night!

Also, their sleep cycles are only 40 mins so he might be struggling to transition. ESP if his mind is whirring at all the new stuff he's learning Grin

I think it lasted a couple of weeks with ds then he settled down again. Don't wear yourself out trying to force him to nap in his cot. Rely on other methods if needs be in the short term.
