12 month sleep hell

Hi all
DS is 12 months old. Apart from a perfect 3 weeks when he was 10 months he never sleeps through. Usually comes into our bed at about 4.30am and goes back to sleep. Asleep by 7.30pm, dream feed at 11pm (don't think I will ever be able to give it up), up for day 7-7.30am.

Naps always been a bit hit and miss. Usually he has morning nap about 10.30am for 45mins to 1 hour. Then afternoon nap from 3-4pm. He is fed to sleep for both unless we are out and about and he falls asleep in buggy.

In the last week he has fought his morning nap not going down until 11.30ish. Then hasn't had an afternoon nap as he doesn't get tired until about 4.30 and I have a no sleep after 4pm rule. So he spends the last couple of hours of the day grumpy and teary. If I let him have a late nap bedtime doesn't happen till 9pm.

Is he trying to drop to 1 nap? how am I supposed to get him to sleep longer for the first nap if this the case? He is clearly exhausted as he is waking all night and spends all day yawning.

Any thoughts? it's killing me!

Thanks!

How long is he sleeping for at his first nap now? My DS is 11 months and has defo dropped 2nd nap. Not ready to go down again till close to 5 and sleep then is totally out of the question or he would be up all night. He will sleep for 2 hours ish though roughly 3.5-4 hours after he gets up and this is just enough to see him through until bed. If he wakes up from his nap early or seems really tired I just bring bed time forward by half an hour.

Try dropping the morning nap. Give him lunch at 11.30 and then try to get him to sleep for 2-ish.
