I appreciate I seem to have the opposite problem compared most on this section but I would like to get a few opinions before I take DD to the doctor and look like a fussy mother!

DD has always been a good sleeper, since around 7 months her pattern has been consistent with 10 to 11 hours at night, a 45 minute morning nap and a 2 hour+ afternoon nap. She seemed happy and content with this and has always been very active in between naps.

For the last 5 weeks she has needed more and more sleep, she is commonly sleeping in excess of 13 hours at night (I'm often having to wake her in the morning to attend activities), she will then have a 1.5 hour morning nap (approx 1.5 hours after waking), another 3+ hours at lunch and often another 30 mins late afternoon before bed at 7pm. She is only awake for 8 to 9 hours a day.

If I don't put her to bed for these naps she takes herself off to sleep in the corner of her playroom.

Could this be a long growth spurt or should I be worried?

I'd go to the GP. That does seem an awful lot of sleep! My dd has just been diagnosed with thyroid problems, which can cause tiredness. There could be a number of reasons for excessive sleep, I would definitely get it looked into.
