can't settle my own 10mo old

So my ds2 used to be a great sleeper. We had come through the 8 month sleep regression finally and were back on track. I have always found it harder to settle him and my DH and my mother have had him off in 5 mins.

I am just so frustrated now. Ds1 is 3yr and is on half term from nursery now and I have been spending up to an hour in the bedroom trying to settle ds2. It is just not fair on him.

Today it has been over an hour and still crying. I sat by the cot for the first 30 mins but he just kept laughing when standing but eyes rolling with tiredness when he laid down. Now I have been going in every 2mins to lay him back down but he is in such a state:'( I think any sleep he does have now with be pointless.

Pressed send too soon as on my phone!

Last few weeks has been refusing to settle in car/buggy but when he does fall asleep he will sleep a couple of hours

Once I get him off at night he will sleep alln night so not sure what to do anymore.

Any suggestions?

Right he has just fallen asleep as I went to lay him down and kept my hand on his back.

I really don't want to do cc. I did it with ds1 and it worked brilliantly but with ds2 he has reflux which is only just resolving and the crying makes it so much worse :(
