Can dummy cause wind or tummy ache??

Can i please ask advice from all your lovely wise ladies out there....again?
DC2 is 4 mo and a very sucky baby, but didnt like a dummy up to now
She needed lots of comfort in her first 10 weeks, which she mostly spent sleeping on me
Against all odds and as total surprise she was then suddenly happy to fall asleep in her sleepyhead and a few wonderful nights of great sleep followed
Until....i think we were hit by the 4 months sleep regression, or something else...in any case she woke up every 45 mts, and we tried to give her the dummy (controversial, i know, but it worked wonders with my Dc1, and we are dummy fans). Dummy seemed to do the trick, happy sleepy baby, happy parents.
But for the last 3 nights she has been waking up at 4.45am sharp, crying inconsolably and seemingly having tummy ache and/or wind. The night is practically over then and DD increasingly exhausted from lack of sleep.

Im wondering what the cause might be and cannot think of anything else we changed apart from the dummy, but not sure whether it could actually have anything to do with this at all???

I don't know. Is she bottle fed at all. We had no problems with the bottle to start with, but had progressively worse and worse wind problems, which seem to have pretty much disappeared since we weaned to a sippy cup.
Other than that, when they are milk fed, be it bottle or breast, infacol rocks.

She is EBF, but to be honest, i am now doubting that the dummy has got anything to do with this...DD did not seem to have any issues with wind last night and still woke up screaming at exactly 4.45am again .... I think this is one of these 'it will pass some day' thingies....just hoping it will do so soon!!!

I think the not sleeping through is more common than we are lead to believe - just the only people you here mention it are the slept-through-at-6weeks squad!

Maybe she's hungry? How long since she fed?

Totally agree Niggle, i also think there are various definitions of "my child is sleeping through the night" Out there. I just wish somebody had told me how bad it could be. DC2 is i think sleeping reasonably well, but DC1 was pure torture until he was about 7 mo and i remember DP and me almost losing it-really!

Thanks Believe, didn't seem to be hunger either, but-she seems to have decided that she likes her sleep after all (for the time being, probably will change her mind again tonight) and has been sleeping nicely over past days.

Yeah we often say that (that we wish someone had told us). The trouble is everyone always says theyre lovely and its worth it. Which is true, but doesnt properly convey the horror....
