Can you recommend a nightlight?

i am fed up with leaving the landing light on as it disturbs my sleep!

I have been wondering about a pabobo barbapapa one but there are lots similar - the pabobo ones claim to last 12 hours which seems longer than most but does it really last that long? Also unsure whether she'd actually want it off the charger anyway? Does anyone have one they particularly like?

I have an Alessi one that you plug in. It's lovely.

teacher123 · 28/01/2013 22:04

What kind? We just have one of those really cheap plug in ones from Homebase-it lights up the hallway enough for me to feed DS, get to the bathroom etc, but doesn't disturb us.

I have a teardrop shaped one from tesco I think for dd1 in the hall but in her bedroom she has a lovely one from ikea. It charges on the mains but lasts days between charges. It's a little white character with blue features. I think it came in red too. It changes colour from soft blue to green. It was £12 and its really lovely Grin

I have the calpol ones that also take the night time tab's to help with colds and they are dusk till dawn ones.

Rockdoctor · 29/01/2013 20:18

Another vote for the Ikea one here

...you can order it online.

Plug in one from Wilkinson does the job on our landing.

gallicgirl · 29/01/2013 20:24

We've got the IKEA one too. Has a range of colours and brightnesses and even bounces, which is lucky because DD calls it owl and likes to carry it around.

nightshade · 29/01/2013 20:28

I use ordinary lamp with plug in sommet switch.

nightshade · 29/01/2013 20:29

Dimmer switch.

fififrog · 29/01/2013 21:58

Great thanks for heads up on ikea one - I had looked but not enough info on the website!

Sadly plug in won't work in her room and no socket on landing.

Think we'll try the ikea - only cheap afterall :)

No worries fifi - I bought it for dd as a surprise and she loves it. I thought the colour change might keep her awake but it doesn't its v subtle I think it's a good buy Grin

DialsMavis · 29/01/2013 23:23

DS had the ikea one did years and loved it, it's ideal because you don't waste batteries but can take it anywhere. DD has a gro clock, because she won't stay a bloody sleep....We have only had it a few days so time will tell if it does the job.

fififrog · 31/01/2013 20:16

For anyone else in this position.... My dad trotted off to ikea for me today, got the lamp and took it to the checkout only to be told they couldn't sell it to him as they were recalled for safety reasons YESTERDAY and they hadn't manage to get them off the shelves yet! Can't believe it!

Still, I had avoided getting small creature from Jojo as they said they last 10hours and I thought tho she wakes early 10 hours is cutting it fine but the ikea one says 5 hours so I might give the Jojo one a try.

thanks Mavis she already has a gro clock but it doesn't cast enough light... Doesn't seem to make any difference to the waking either but she's not yet 2.

Blimey? really?

was it just the tall one or the short one too?

goes to look at website

gallicgirl · 31/01/2013 21:54

Hmm it's not on the website as a safety recall.

WhichIsBest · 31/01/2013 21:57

Maybe it was just one batch?
We have the Ikea one too but I find it too bright.

fififrog · 01/02/2013 08:04

It was the short one dad tried to buy. It could well have been a bad batch. I might call to ask...
