Counting the hours and four in the bed

So, anyone else play the game of putting a newborn down and irrationally bargaining with yourself...it's now 12, so next time I want to wake up is 3 at the earliest! Then lying down, with fingers crossed?! Sometimes listening to every squeak?

Last night was the worst night ever! Dd1 crying all night and not sleeping...in bed with us...dd2 is 4 weeks and insisted on sleeping on me or not sleeping at all. Four in the bed and no sleep as one dd always awake - anyone else?

Only one little one, but I often can't go to sleep, because I expect the monitor to go off any minute. And it does often just when I'm about to drift off!

Currently 4 in a bed, hoping DS (11wks) will transfer ok.

I become obsessed with estimating hours of sleep.

Currently averaging 4. Sob sob sob.

Here goes...

Oh-that is so me. I've just left non sleeping dd2 with dh and am lying here I spare room with four hours til at least one of the older two dc wake up. It is driving me slightly strange. I feel reluctant to go to sleep because I know I'll be woken up again but at the same time I'm beside myself with tiredness and I'm so irritable all the time. I just want some sleep in more than three hour bursts.

Ha same here! My twins have a knack of waking up the moment I'm under the duvet so I often really struggle to go to sleep.

Sleep deprivation is an absolute killer

Same here - DT1 woke at 330 last night, resttled in 5mins. I then lay awake in bed until 5 hoping she wouldn't wake again. She didn't and I lost an hour and a half of sleep. So frustrating!

So - older dc and dh up at 5.45 as usual, dd2 went back to sleep at 4. Slightly under two hours useful sleep. She slept eight til eleven but I find it really hard to go to bed early-the evening is the catch up time. I guess I'll have to start going to bed with her. Have felt on edge of shouting since I got up this morning-but cried instead! Aargh. Going to cancel everything and hope dd2 naps long and heavy later. Hope your days go smoothly. This sleep dep lark is insidious and horrible. I don't even feel sleepy tired any more-just bite your head off for saying hello tired.

It is at least a comfort to share with others! It just sucks...I had forgotten how rubbish it was not sleeping through the night and it is so much worse with two, as you can't just sleep in in the morning if they do go back to sleep, or nap when they nap. Thankfully DD1 still has a long nap in the afternoon, although recently DD1 has been waking up just as DD2 goes to sleep, I need to try and get their naps in sink!!

I don't want to wish away this new born stage, but I similarly can' t wait until she sleeps through!

I know what you mean about getting them to nap together. When I get it (increasingly uncommon as ds is four now) I call it the miracle of simultaneous sleep

Glad I am not the only one! I go to bed worrying about when I am going to have to get up and cant get to sleep - finally got to sleep on Monday night at 3.30am (went to bed at 10 pm) So frustrating and boring - I try not to get up cos then I feel will just wake me up more but gets so boring. It seems worse when the baby is sleeping well for some reason.
