how long does the four month sleep regression last?

My twins are 16 weeks and before this week i thought they slept quite badly but i now realise it was ok!!

last night was horrific, dtb up 5 times, dtg up 4. Dtb wanted to feed everytime.

please tell me this will pass soon!!!!

On an individual baby basis, four or five wake ups is actually really good, and I would say you're getting off lightly....but you have twins

17 weeks here (just the one though!) and our hell has also started, after her previously sleeping up to 12 hrs without waking

Having read about here / online seems to vary a lot - between babies who grow out of it in a couple of weeks to babies who never seem to get over it. The crucial bit seems to be about them having learned / learning to self-soothe. I'm going to start taking this bit seriously - we've gradually introduced various props and have a horrible feeling we'll start paying for it soon!

I have a baby that hasn't grown out of it and self-settling/soothing doesn't actually make a difference so don't get too worried! Many of us haggard sleepless crones on the 'Misery loves company' support thread have babies that have been known to self-settle, nay, do it regularly, but don't stay. A-fucking. Sleep. Not looking at you, DS, oh no...

Oh god, horrendous.

Thons going from bad to worse here. Dtb already been up 3 times and its not even 10 o clock yet :(

Posted this link on our PN thread and apparently it has some useful stuff - posted it without reading it all as too tired!

Our dd started sleeping really badly at 15 weeks. Before that she'd been a good sleeper with only 1/2 feeds per night. But suddenly she wanted 5 feeds a night! Like you say I started dreaming of the sleeps we used to get! Anyhow, not sure if I'm about to jinx it but she seems to have reverted back to sleeping well. The regression seemed to last two weeks. Just wanted to let you know to give you hope. I asked our hv about it and she had said to continue making night feeds dull; no talking, no eye contact etc. I hope it passes soon as I feel your pain!

we had five weeks of proper hell at 4 months with DS waking every hour and a half. But in all honesty he didn't get good at sleeping till 14 months. Sigh. So three months of peace before his brother arrives...
