Hi. My DD is 10 weeks. We are stuck in the misery of 2hourly feeds and more recently occasional 1hrly wakings. I tend to feed her when she wakes as she settles more quickly (ebf) but wonder whether I should be cuddling her back to sleep instead even if this takes being awake until she definitely needs a feed (3hrly gap). Do you think after a few nights that this would encourage her to not wake so often? She feeds for about 10min if I feed her then tends to wake when I put her down but usually self settles (noisily - sucking hands and grunting, not crying) after 15-20 min. If I cuddle her instead she is not crying but is fidgety for a while then usually wakes when I put her back down. I admit to picking her up quite quickly ie not waiting for full on crying but the occasional loud cry in the middle of general snuffling etc.
I don't have ridiculously high expectations as my son took til 12-16 weeks to get to one feed a night then regressed at 5.5 months but he did at least do the classic longer spell at the start of the night: 6.30-11, then maybe to 2.30/3. Then it used to go a bit more frequent. I don't even get that with my dd.
Has anyone else had this and tried settling without feeding for some of the wakings at this young age?
Thanks from a very tired mummy!
