My DD is 15 months old and has always slept in just a sleepsuit & maybe a grobag in winter. I know she's old enough now to use a pillow and have a duvet, but I'm really worried she could still suffocate as she often sleeps on her front. Am I being stupid?

i think she's old enough to wriggle out of the duvet if she can't breathe properly. My 19m dd has been using a pillow since maybe 2 months and got used to it straight away. She's still sleeping in a bag but we're going to have to move on to a duvet soon as she manages to unzip it now and wakes up cold.

O.k. Might try a pillow then. Don't know how she'll get on with it as she's quite active at night, rolling all over the place!

Just given my DS (18 m) a pillow last week and for the first time in 6 months he has slept through! Had similar concerns to yourself but he seems really comfy.

piloows, duvets, etc are considered ok from 1 year. My dd has had one since then - a normal sort of flattish adult pillow.
