Ds *still* awake but no crying...

I am starting to feel he has a baby version of insomnia! Brief background: he has always been a difficult sleeper but lots of patience (mostly) and time and he has got much better. He's currently almost 20 months. Recent,y he is clearly going through a massive developmental leap that started with sleep regression at 18 months. Since then he's gained a lot of new skills, words etc and has clearly been fuelling all this with a large increase in how much he eats.

So all good, and understandable but he simply isn't going to sleep at night. He's not crying but he's awake still and I put him down at 7:15. I went in at 8:30 and gave him a little extra milk but he's still awake. I don't know what to do. This can't be good for him but why isn't he sleeping?

Its quite likely down to his developmental leap but at this age can also be down to changing sleep needs.

Does he still nap in the day? When & how long for? And what time does he usually get up in the morning?

He is absolutely routine-free Ito sleep. Not for lack of trying on our part. He wakes up between 6:15-7:15 usually. Day naps ate 45-90 minutes usually but can be longer or shorter. Time varies too - some days he will go down at 13:00, others only 14:30! But then we also havHmme days where coming back from something he will pass out in car at 12! It can be frustrating.
