Does your 3.5yo still nap?!

My ds does, and I'm wondering if he'll ever give them up!

He sleeps like a log from around 7.30/7.45pm until 7.00/7.15am, and very rarely wakes during the night.

When he's at nursery, he never sleeps during the day, but as soon as he's got a day at home, he's nodding off at 3pm. If he's really tired or it's getting late, I'll try and keep him awake, otherwise I'll let him sleep an hour or so. He'll sleep for longer if he could, though.

He hasn't slept today and, as always, we got to 4pm and turns into a hyperactive horror with tiredness.

He's an August birthday, and will be just turned four when he starts school next September. Someone please reassure me that he can stay awake through the day by then ...

DD1 will be 4 in 2 weeks & on days at home (weekends, Christmas holidays) she naps in the bottom of the double stroller for about an hour every day around lunchtime or so.

Same as yours, she sleeps a comfy 12 hours at night, but she's okay without the nap too, I think - but worn out by Friday, but that's normal for all of us!

Yes, our 3.5 year old DS does - two hours every day. It's great at weekends as then we can nap too! BUT he goes to bed at 9pm and is up again at 6am, so gets 11 hours in total.

ds1 still napped a couple of times a week at that age plus a solid 12 hours or so at night. shame his sister didn't do the same!

my ds has just turned 4 and does exactly the same as your ds and still gets 12 hrs at night time.

Phew - Not just him then!

Looking on other threads on this board, I really shouldn't complain, I know, but he does get so grumpy when he's tired, and can be almost impossible to reason with. I don't know any other children of the same age who still nap - and, in fact, when I mention to other mothers that ds still naps a few times a week, I get a good old Hmm. It's good to hear that there are others like ds out there!

I just really hope he can last out the day once he starts school in September, as he gets so grumpy when he's tired. A lot can change in nine months, I guess crosses fingers .

At that age mine didn't nap but were sleeping 13 hours at night. Often so tired that they were in bed by 6 / 6.15 and slept until 7. If mine had a nap they wouldn't settle in the evenings, guess they are all different!
