Sounds like it might not be the best things for your child.
Have you tried anything else? How old is he?
shush pat is another method that is gentler than cc (which personally I hate).
We tend to sit with the kids if they don't want to sleep. DS1 used to play with my fingers through the bars of the cot, and got endless verses of baa baa black sheep. DS2 needs cuddling if over tired. Hope he's asleep now.

How are you doing it? It worked ok with dd but on reflection cc would have wound her up less. She was much better if I wasn't in the room! BW is all about doing things according to the personality of the child rather than doing something because you are dead against something else I think..
