8mo wakes after 45mins at bedtime

My 8 month old ds slept beautifully from birth until 5 months old when he started waking in the night. About a month ago things had improved, sleeping through more than not .

He has had around 6 weeks of being unwell, one thing after another. Just getting over yet another wheezy period but he is now waking 30 to 45mins after he goes down to bed and taking ages to resettle. Has been for 3 nights now and still up tonight now nearly 3hrs on.

He naps well, 1.5hrs twice a day and self settles no problem.

I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do. He does fall asleep feeding at night but I tried to keep him awake by feeding earlier and in a lit room but he still went off.

Any suggestions?

My ds tends to do that when his teeth are sore, we usually try some teetha powders and some teething gel and if he is still struggling to settle some calpol, although lots of people say ibuprofen is better as has anti inflammatory properties. If you apply gel with carefully washed
hands you might feel how bumpy the gums feel.

Thank you!

Well today I felt his gums and he has a top front tooth pushing through. So obvious but I just didn't think of it as he's not upset as such just refusing to sleep.

He's gone to bed tonight with calpol, teething granules and teething gel on board! So far he is still asleep so has slept through the first cycle. Fingers crossed this works!
