7 week old ages to settle at night

Any advice appreciated .dd sleeps for long times in the day but at night she is hard to settle and often screams , so tired and would love to change this or at least be reassured its Normal !

They often still have day and night muddled up at that age. We've always kept nighttime really boring, dim lights, no talking, no stimulation and then daytime is more interesting and noisier so they get the idea. I don't know if that might help? It will get better!

At 7 weeks old babies most babies can sleep from 11pm until 5am without waking. They make sleep associations with all five senses of smell and sound etc when they are drifting off to sleep. If baby sleeps in the lounge during the day they will make a sleep association with that room. Then at night they become fussy as they are aware of being in a different environment.

Set up your baby monitor and Use the bedroom for all sleeps, introduce a musical sleep toy to relax calm and to signal sleep, scent a comforter with your scent so baby can be comforted by it.

Take baby up to the bedroom about 10pm to settle and relax in there, use soft interesting lighting so baby will make a visual sleep association with it and transfer the sleep toy etc to the nursery when baby makes the move.

I think Cheshire is giving you unrealistic expectations. I learned on a BabyCalm course that only 50% of babies at 4 MONTHS 'sleep through' and that means for a stretch of 5 hours.

Sleep is aided by melatonin which you baby needs to produce and build up - and stocks won't be high enough until about 12 weeks. Only then can any day/night pattern be expected. It's really normal for a baby to sleep more during the day.

Remember, this too will pass, and it is totally normal.

Where is the research that supports this ridiculous nonsense?

And it is against SIDS guidance to have a baby sleeping in a different room from you, even during the daytime.

i don't know of many 7 weeks who slept from 11 - 7 or those who could sleep without being fed to sleep, rocked etc

babies ARE NOT DESIGNED TO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT

they are programmed to wake and feed

you need to maximise the amount of rest you do get - do you go to bed when your baby does at night?

so if you use the bedroom for all sleeps, how can you ever leave the house?

honestly OP, it does pass - it is exhausting but it does get better

babywhisperer should update her information. I do not know of one single 7 week old who sleeps through the night. Even more so if EBF baby. (can't speak for FF babies)

My four week old is the same. I'm often in bed at seven unfortunately I also have a lovely toddler who starts the day at half six. It's normal and it won't last forever, just sleep when you can

Garbage - utter garbage. At 7 weeks nearly all babies are waking for night feeds for the extremely simple reason that they need them.
