sleep routine when poorly

Hi everyone

My little boy is 4 months and has caught his first cold. it took hours for us to settle him last night and when he did eventually sleep, woke up every 30 mins....

He is asleep now and I am wondering whether to wake him and keep to our usual routine or not? Worried that if I let him sleep too much during the day, there is absolutely no chance he will sleep tonight.

First time mum, so not sure if this is a stupid question or not....

TIA

It's probably too late now, but I was just going to say that he probably needs to catch up a bit. How long has he been sleeping? Having said he needs to catch up, I'd probably get a bit twitchy after about 2.5-3 hours and get him up and see how he did. If he still seemed tired, I'd probably put him down for his next nap a bit early.

I would be prepared for him to have some extra sleep whole trying not to let the routine get completely out of whack.

Hope he gets better soon, OP. it's miserable when there so small and don't know what's going on, isn't it?

Thanks mummybare. Woke him after 2 hours and he seems ok. He will need to catch up on his sleep as he only had about 5 hours in total last night. Will see how it goes today.

It is just so awful when they are poorly as its so hard to console them :-(

Aww, poor little mite. If it's any consolation, I find colds generally pass quite quickly for them so hopefully he'll soon be back to his old self.
