Leaking nappies at night!!!! ARGHH

Hi All,

For past 4 months my son has had leaking nappies, he's now 13 months. We initially sorted by swapping from tesco active ones to pampers active fit, then it didn't work and we went from 4 maxi + to size 5, he weighs 27 pounds and is pretty big! Now that isn't working. I've read suggestions on re-useable nappy covers? Or incontinence pads. I don't like the idea of pads really, just worried he'll get bad nappy rash. I would say that I have also reduced milk slightly before bed from 8 to 6 oz, which he drains and is happy with. Plus he has no water after 5pm tea and goes to bed at 7pm. His routine hasn't changed drink wise, which is why I don't get the sudden influx of weeeeeee!!

You can get bed protectors they use in nursing homes which are indestructible. They are called....'kylies'! They aren't cheap but they are excellent and machine washable.

DS went through a phase of this and I found the Pampers dry ones were the only ones that worked. It meant one type of nappy during the day and one at night which was a bit of a pain but worth it.

The other thing I did was put a pair of pants over the top to try and 'seal' all exits, such as round the legs!

Otherwise it's change him in the night I'm afraid!

The only nappies that don't leak on my 17 month old are Aldi ones (and cheap too!) we used to use pampers a d had leaks twice a night but they are rare now. We use 4+ as even in Aldi nappies a size 5 leaks.

Active fit are rubbish at night, they are thin to allow movement. Try the dry fit, should last 12 hours.

another vote for using baby dry at night rather than active fit

You can buy booster pads from places that sell reusable nappies and pop these inside a disposable one to add absorbency. Then just wash the pads. If you pop barrier cream on first like sudo cream it should prevent any rashes. Did this with my dd.

I had the exact same problem with DS, I tried every nappy there was and the only ones that worked for us were huggies super dry and then going one size up.

our son's been leaking ever since he started sleeping on his side. So at night he has a terry towel nappy over a disposable and plastic pants on top. No more leaks for us.

Mothercare terry nappies, boots (online) plastic pants, and something called nappy nippas (I think) instead of using nappy pins, off amazon.

Also agree, active fit for day and baby dry for night, both pampers.

You can't use active fit at night IMO. They are too thin. We use the proper thick pampers at night and active fit in day. I'm sure if you do that you'll have no more leaks. Good luck

A nappy wrap over a disposable will hold it in place and get rid of the weighing down wet crotch making a leaky gap problem. I use wraps over disposables at night.

Look on clothnappytree and get a couple wraps - Motherease and Baby Beehinds work best for me.

Just checked - they're called snappis (the pin replacement things)
