Anyone using one? Any good/bad stories advice etc?

DS has dreadful time napping (results in me pounding the pavement to get some sleep into him). Nights had always been good until recently (last 7-10 days) when the evenings became really fussy and hard to get him down and he is waking earlier. Some of which coincided with me trying to regulate and extend naps. At a loss whether to go back to ad hoc napping and see if it fixes the nights or press on and hope its a transition?!

Would/could Ewan help?

I find Ewan helps ME sleep! Nothing worked for us apart from baby got colic. Look on YouTube. The video is frightening but I got the mp3 and its a miracle! Dd loves Ewan for cuddles though.

We've had one since DS was about 3 months old (18 mo now) and it's fab. Works so well on him, don't need it for naps now but if I hear him stirring at nighttime and I can get to it in time it helps lull him back to sleep definitely. I rate it do much I've bought one for every pregnant friend since Grin

I couldn't live without Ewan. He's going to have his own stocking hanging from the fireplace this year filled with triple A batteries

I bought one recently expecting it to be our salvation due to so many good reviews. Alas for us it hasnt made one bit of difference.

minibmw2010 · 20/11/2012 13:26

That's such a shame Dunnit, even my DH has been impressed and he thought I had wasted my cash at first Grin

Thank you all. After a v challenging day I think he'll be top of my list tomorrow. DS has had 4 naps today, each only lasting 30 mins. He is so tired but struggling to stay asleep. 2 of those naps were in the pram, both times woke up crying (no idea why, not a crier at all) and 1 nap was on me and woke up crying again. I hate seeing him so sad :-(

How old is he? What time is he waking up and when do you put him down?

breatheslowly · 20/11/2012 21:15

Have you tried white/pink noise? You can get it free on the internet or use a radio tuned to static. I think it is basically the same as the noise the sheep makes. It worked wonders for DD when she was tiny.

Nini100 · 21/11/2012 21:40

Hi
I love our Ewan had him since lo was 6 weeks, when she was very young we used the white noise option but not at 10 mths the harp option is always out before a nap downtime routine.
Clumsasuraus it's hard and remember those days of crap naps from my lo, I tried everything to get her to sleep longer and stop the over tiredness. The last couple of months she has got better,.......so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
If your putting bubs down in his cot just stick to a routine of winding down, Ewan, singing etc and just persevere.
Good luck it will pass x

Thanks everyone. Aee using white noise for naps, bed time seems to still be going ok, although I have probably jinxed that for tonight. We have had some nights where he finally conks out hours later than usual and last night woke 4 times where once was the norm.

For naps he will take his first one in the crib but none of the others so I am pounding the pavement to get him off for the other 3, to make it even more fun he is only sleeping for 30 min naps... Crossing everything for tonight!

I'm a big fan of Ewan and thank you to the ladies who recommended it to me :o Our bean loves him and also loves radio detuned to staic although we are using them much less now (she is 8 weeks). Ewan is brill when out and about to soothe her if cranky.

Portland573 · 23/07/2013 09:30

Something I thought I'd bring up on the Ewan threads to help people is a link that has been conspicuously absent from the manufacturer's site for a long time - the very talented lady that plays the harp on his front right foot as it were.

www.bethanmyfanwy.com/

As far as I'm aware, she doesn't get any royalties from the makers of Ewan, and her playing is wonderful. If you like what you've heard, give her a run for either a physical CD or a download from her site or iTunes - most of the money she makes ploughs back into various charities, and she does an awful lot of work playing for patients in hospital for no fee.

Cheers

My dd 2.4 still adores him. Was an absolute life saver when younger and agree to loving the harp music. So relaxing.
He is now without his electrical bits been washed so often and a bit tatty but she would not be without him.
Now dd2 is here dd1 even had tea parties etc with him while I feed etc.
Cannot recommend enough but think jealously issues will prevent us from getting one for dd2.

Nicknamefail · 23/07/2013 15:18

We have one and dd likes to play with him, but doesn't help with sleep sadly!
