Comfort blankets - safe?

My 5.5 month old DD likes to have a muslin when she's getting herself to sleep. This morning I went in and nearly had heart failure when she had it over her face and was gently snoring underneath it! Now, I know it's a fairly breathable fabric and I also know she can pull it off her face as she does when I ask her to. Should I remove it from the cot altogether?

Hi beginnings
I guess only you can decide what you're comfortable with. But...both of mine did something similar, and with comforters thicker than muslins. Scared me to start with, but I figured that as long as they were old enough to be able to move it if they needed to, it would be ok. It seems they liked it that way.

I always go in and remove my LO's comfort blanket after he's fallen asleep. He is 6 months old (already??). Maybe when he's a little bigger I'll leave it with him.
