I can't believe it - last night ds slept for 10 hours straight!!!! Happy New Year to me!!

I am absolutely gobsmacked - just 6 days ago he was swaddled, waking to feed at least twice a night and having to be rocked back to sleep every time which on its own could take up to an hour. On Christmas Day he was up SEVEN TIMES - to go from that to this (even if he did wake at 5am today) is just bliss.

We've been doing the Baby Whisperer pick-up put-down method and despite a couple of dodgy nights, it does seem to be working. There'll probably be a massive regression tonight but until then I'm staying optimistic

Happy New Year!

Well done! Long may it last!

Well, even if there is the odd regression, it's certainly a break through. I found that when my daughter had done it once, she slipped a couple of nights then did it again a couple of nights and after around 2 weeks was mostly regularly sleeping through, barring teeth and illness of course.

I also say !!horay!! for baby whispering.

DS had been thoroughly spoilt over Christmas with nannas and aunties cuddling him off to sleep. We ended up having some really bad nights, with him sleeping in our bed.

Now, after a three hour PU/PD session a few nights ago, he's so much better. He'll even wake in the night, have a little whinge and put himself back to sleep.

There's still a way to go. He was awake for 15 mins at 3.30 - but I'm feeling drunk with all the sleep I've been getting. FAntastic.

Well, seems I spoke too soon... Last night ds was up for the day at 3am... He simply would not settle despite having been fed, changed etc - every time I thought he had calmed down enough to fall asleep he would pop awake again and start either screaming or wanting to play. Sigh. So I caved and fed him 'to sleep' about 6am - except that he wouldn't even sleep after that! He seems fine this morning - it's just me who is like the walking dead

However, I'm not giving up (even though my patience is being sorely tested) - the night before last he did only wake once for 15 minutes in 12 hours, so something is working. He is just a hard nut to crack!!

How was last night? How old is your ds?

The good thing is you know he can do it. I also fell for the "feeding back to sleep" lark when my DS really didn't need it so we went cold turkey - no feeds after midnight - and he stopped wanting it after a couple of nights.

We found teeth and tummy upsets woke our ds after he started to sleep through (and still does, get the upsets that is). We're now up to 4 out of 7 nights a week straight through from 7:30pm-6:30am, and not necessarily consecutive.. All I can say is it will get better - keep going with the pu/pd and make sure he doesn't over sleep in the day.
