How do you co-sleep/bed share?

My daughter is 10 weeks old and has a CocoonaBaby which she sleep pretty well in. Over the last few weeks after she wakes at around 5AM she will go back to sleep in her Cocoon, but only for about 40 minutes and I've been putting her in bed with me and can usually get another hour or two before she wakes again. I'm not really sure how to co-sleep, we have just been doing what feels right. I push all the pillows and duvet out of the way and then I sleep face to face with her so our heads touch. I like that I can hear/feel her breathing so I know she's all right.

I'm a little more worried about sleeping with her the whole night through when she out grows her Cocoon. So I was wondering how other parents bed share and what measures you take to keep your child safe and how you stop them from rolling out of the bed, etc. They always tell you about what not to do, but don't have very many guidelines on what you should do if you want to bed share.

So how do you do it?

We had a cot side for the edge of the bed, only had one pillow each and a summer weight duvet.

This is from the US, but I found dr Sears really helpful
