DS awful sleeper (literally never slept more than 2 hrs often with long gaps between) it very nearly broke me... until 1 yo when turned a corner
Long story short gave been having through nights ish ie 8-7 or 830-11/1130-7 since then
However a few weeks ago had 2 solid appalling weeks but when co slept got a bit of respite, thought it teething so had been nurafen calpol etc- eventually ear infection and high temp came out, penicillin and sorted, happy baby, sleep better
Until Friday when it started again but this time cannot calm him at all co sleep does nothing last night he was poking me in eyes to wake me Hmm when I ignoring him. Dumped him back in cot when realized wasn't going to work and shut door to try and get an hours kip and he dropped off
Has to wake him at 9am as we has to go out red cheeks didn't want to eat much however has eaten loads during day
Hell again tonight and looks like another Jo sleep night ahead so what can I do?
No temp think its teeth (though think he had full set now!!) but don't want to keep giving nurafen if it's masking a problem which needs shifting?
I cant carry on into another pattern of no sleep its bad mentally and driving wise, but if I take him to dr they'll think I'm barking
I clearly don't want him suffering but don't want toast illness with lighter medicines if it's actually anti b needed
I'm also hugely stressed about the work impact ie time off due to illness - if he's Ill ofcourse I take time off with him, wouldn't be anywhere else, but when it's sleep deprivation there is no respite can't get Job done which adds to all the pressure at home too :-(
Anyone any suggestions? Sorry so long :-(

Might it be a recurrence of ear infection? I think that's pretty common. You have my sympathies. My sin was a terrible sleeper until about 15 months. Had a few weeks of sleeping through but even now at 19 months it's unpredictable & he'll often wake screaming for no reason I can fathom. I sometimes crack after an hour of trying to get him back to.sleep in the middle of the night & take him into bed with us but he faffs about, refuses to sleep or even lie still which results in DP getting sulks & buggering off to sleep elsewhere which pisses me off no end. I don't have an answer for you other than get his ear checked again, jist wanted you to know someone else feels your pain!

I agree with, get his ears checked again. It doesn't matter if tey think you're mad, who cares! I too feel your pain my DS is about your son's age as well and he was a nightmare sleeper until recently (i try not to say it out loud just incase I jinx it). Once you've ruled out ears, then maybe you will feel better about giving him painkillers as it migt turn out it that it is his teeth afterall.
