why's it getting worse?

DS2 is coming up to 7 weeks old. When we brought him home he slept everywhere we plonked him during the day, for long stretches, no matter what noise. i remembered from ds1 that that would change and sure enough, he doesn't like being put down now and naps in the sling most days. BUT, i don't remember the nights getting worse. At first ds2 slept 3 and 2 stretches at night (we even had a 5 1/2 stretch at 3 weeks), waking up at a very considerate 8am. That started shortening to 1 1/2 to 2 hour stretches over the last week or so, and last night it was every hour, and then awake for a good 40 mins, having to be soundly asleep before i could put him in cot. Any advice anyone?

Should say, depending on when he wakes up in the aft/early evening, ds2 is in bed by 7 - 8.30. He has a bath, is swaddled, fed and cuddled and goes down very happily and easily. He sleeps til I dream feed him between 10 and 11. He had then been sleeping for 2 or 3 hours before first next feed, but last night he was up from midnight hourly until 6ish.

I've had a very similar thing, last night I dream fed at 10pm only for DD to wake at 1130pm, then 1ish, 2.15, fed at 3am and then woke at 5am & needed feeding at 6am. Each time she wakes I just pop her dummy in & settle her so beginning to wonder if the dummy is the problem. I've decided to get rid of the dummy so she learns to settle even if dummy not in her mouth. Does your DS have a dummy?

He does, but strangely he's not that interested in it at night. Last night when I tried it to see if it would settle him, he spat it out until he got breast fed, but then didn't settle quickly after feeding either (he uses it more during the day to go to sleep with). He is a real grunter and strainer at night though and did seem to be doing that even more than usual. How old is your DD?
