15mo has started waking at night!

DS1 has been reliably sleeping through form 8pm to 6am with no fuss since he was around 10mo. However, he started waking at 4am around 8 weeks ago and demanding a milk feed. DH decided the easiest route was to just feed him and get him back to bed quickly.

However, we now have DS2 (6weeks old) and I am desperate for DS1 to stop waking in the night as that will mean DH and I can share the night-feeds for DS2! At the moment I am doing all of them - I know that millions of women don't have a choice in doing all the feeds but I would dearly love a bit more sleep myself and sorting out DS1's sleep seems like the route to that.

So far we have tried offering water (rejected), leaving a water sippy bottle in his cot (no difference), offering less milk (furious anger) and leaving him to cry it out (furious wailing, after which we cave in and feed him anyway). We've also tried feeding him loads just before bed and plying him with milk/water at that time - no difference.

Suggestions will be gratefully received!
