black out blinds

dd is still in our room she is almost 9mths, we have decided in the near future to move out and let her have our room as she is familiar with it and want to get some black out blinds especially as its starting to and going to get lighter in the evenings, are they expensive and do the work??

I got a blackout blind from Argos that works great, BUT I also got a curtain w/a blackout liner sewn in off Ebay. I find I need to use the two of them together b/c it stays very, very light up here in Scotland.

Ikea do them cheapo

No matter the cost, they work fantastically well. I use them in all three of my kids rooms. Like expat, I use the blind and then a proper blind or curtain over because the light seeps in the edges. You can get plain curtain liners if you already have curtains you want to use.

(John Lewis do blackout blinds with kids patterns on like Noah's Ark and big daisies etc.)

Makes a stop to rousing at 5am when the sun is SHINING!

my MIL made DDs curtains for her room, and lined them with blackout material, all bought from C&H fabrics, i have found the curtains fine on their own.

I use black out blinds all through the house! This is because my house is like a 'fish bowl' and wanted to stop people looking in at night downstairs, I live in a new build with no boundaries and no garden. Anyway, I bought them from Studio catologue for around £15 - £20 each, depending on size. Argos sell them too. They are good, and do work. Stops the street lights shining in, and help in the summer for light mornings to stop early waking!

I got two blinds(Ikea) one for the recess and one for the outer part of the window as ds was always very sensitive to light and can't sleep for any length of time if he can see his hand in front of his face

If you already have curtains up then you can just line them with black out material. Took me about 2 hours and cost about £20. His room is very dark now. You can't tell if it is light outside or not.
