Hi, I am about to move dd (2.7) to a bed, as we will need cot soon for dc2. Just wondering whether other people found that they needed safety barriers to stop Dcs falling out in the night or do they learn not to?

Also, any tips about the transition would be appreciated.
Thanks

We just put a duvet on the floor incase but she only fell out once. Involve them in the process of buying bed or duvet cover so they feel they are big for sleeping on a bed. If they get up don't talk to them and keep putting them back Grin

Just put them in a bed, it will be fine honest!

Maybe some cushions on the floor in case they fall out, new duvet cover and talk of exciting new 'big bed', but otherwise there's not much to it.

Agree with rhinestone. No need to make a big deal. Put pillows down in case of a fall out. Here is the bed you will be sleeping in from now on.

We followed the advice not to have a bed guard. However ds flaps about a lot in his sleep so ended up on the floor upset every night for a couple of weeks before we caved and got low height foam bed guards. Stopped ds falling out and waking upset.

Thanks, that seems like sensible advice. Cheers
