My HV has recommended I try soothe and settle to get my DD to have naps during the day.

Has anyone tried this? How did you do it ( the HV gave me some idea). Did it work?

never heard of it. Is it like controlled crying or do you stay with them and gradually move away (gradual withdrawal)

Vodka the HV described it as, when you put the baby down to sleep, and they cry pick them up, cuddle them, then put them down again when they are calm again. If the baby screams/cries again, leave it 1 minute before you pick them up again to comfort them. Put them down. Cry again, leave them 2 minutes. Put down, then leave 3 minutes etc. So kind of controlled crying, but not really. I don't like the idea of cc, plus my daughter is only 20 weeks old

sounds like pick up/put down by the babywhisperer. There is a babywhisperer website if you want further info
