OMG HELP ME!

DD is screaming, has been for the last 30 mins, keeps getting out of her bed and coming out of her room.

She has been in her bed for 1 week now and it has caused a few crying fits but this is ridiculous.

She has her teddies, a lamp on, music on, and tons of books.

I have screamed at her, threatened to take her things off her and turn the music and lamp off.

What else can I do???
Apart from cry myself

take a deep breathe, go in their with her, lay next to her and give her a cuddle,(lights off) she might just be having an off day.

I understand ds1 sometimes does this even though he loves his big boys bed.

Ignore her screaming (well - show her you are ignoring it - you can crumple in a heap with a large drink later....) and just keep putting her back to bed. The only words you should say are "Its bedtime" in a calm, firm voice.

How old is DD?

She's 2.5.

I've done the laying down thing and it just makes it worse when I get up to go.

funny you got two conflicting opinions! VQV was certainly the correct one, mine was the easy option!!

It's my own fault really because since she's been in the bed she has started to wake up at 7am when normally she would sleep till 9/10am so come mid afternoon she's past it.

We're quiet atm
but she does this and then she just roars up again.

I wouldn't mind she's got the classic fm cd on which is meant to be relaxing and soothing!

can you lay with her 'til she's asleep?

I always tell DS1 mummy back in two mins, I do go back and sometimes he's still awake, so I say another two mins etc... usually he's asleep by the second visit.

i'd turn the light off... it may be keeping her awake.

say you'll leave the landing light on and her door open a tiny bit, but no lights on in her room.

just keep taking her back and re-settling her

LOL! It must be catching I can hear DS playing DH up!!

I wouldn't have a light on in the room or music - two things for wakeful time not sleepy time IMO!

The 2 mins thing might be an idea.

The lamp thing will have to go as she never had lights on before. I just gave her it so she could look at the books for a decoy.

Music I don't mind as she's had that for the last few months.

I believe that the less fuss you make nbg the less likely she will persist (if her behaviour isnt having the effect she wants she will stop it).

Dh said just to ignore her but he was just walking out the door to go snowboarding, so he would say that.

If she's in her room crying and screaming I can just about cope but it's when she's sitting at the top of the stairs (we have the stairs in the living room)

ah right one down here how's it going for you NBG? I used the two mins thing but he's knackered so I hopefully won't be saying it again.

The other thing we do is say to DS "blow your light out" as were stood by the light switch and the door. He thinks he's done it and accepts that its gone dark IYSWIM.

Don't blame you for not going in, leave her to sleep / drift off! (just cooking my dinner now I can eat in peace, sorry message are a bit sporadic!)

I'm just watching Child of our Time and when it finishes I'm going in to turn things off.

After that, will wait to see if dh brings home chocs

DS2 has no woken up for a suckle just as i dished up dinner... no rest for the wicked huh?
