Nightmares in toddlers - help please?!

My DD1 who is 2.5 yo has never been settled at night, didnt sleep through until 1yo and even then I had to get up 5+ times a night to plug her dummy back in (still doing that BTW but thats a whole different thread!).

She started having nightmares shortly before DD2 was born who is now 3 months.
She thrashes around crying and occasionally shouts in sleep too. She is waking 4-5 times a night and its difficult to settle her again.

Now for the crux of it - I have been sleeping on the sofa with DD2 since birth to avoid DD1 waking DD2 or visa versa.

I have tried reintroducing naps in the afternoon and have used a magic 'chase away the scaries' spray (bottle of hair shine spray). This worked for a few nights but last night was awful!

DD2 is waking at night for bf and Im sooo tired - any similar experiences with nightmares in toddlers? Any advice would be wonderful Smile

Hi,
I have DTs and they have never woken each other at night. (Not for want of trying!)

I think you should put them in together and see how it goes.

Hope you get some sleep soon!

Thanks Bombastic, I'm going to take the plunge tomorrow as DP is not at work for a few days and he can settle DD1 if needs be.
