Have we over-snuggled!?

I have a 4 month old baby and would welcome some advice please.

He is a very good night sleeper - 8pm to 530 and up until 3 weeks ago he would happily be put down at night whilst semi-sleepy and pretty much settle himself to sleep. Three weeks ago he got a cold and, as he felt grotty I gave him lots more cuddles pre bed and rocked him to sleep. Now he will only go to sleep if he is snuggled...

He grumbles and calls out when put in the crib and if not picked up will start to cry. As soon as he is picked up he will smile, close his eyes and go to sleep.. Until put in the crib where upon he wakes up.. and repeat.. until he is in a deep enough sleep to not wake up when put down.

He's also much more clingy during the day and cries when he wakes up from a nap whereas before he would just call out. Is this just coincidence do you think? ( Day naps are usually in the pram, car or post feed - I haven't got to grips with day nap routine..)

I am happy to snuggle to sleep if that is what he needs but i'm concerned because he seemed happier at night when he was able to self settle.

How can I remind him that he is ok to fall asleep in his crib? Would you go with the flo and snuggle as much as required, keep trying to put him down on his own then snuggle if he won't or something else? Thanks

He's only 4mo so I would snuggle if needed. DS always took a while to go back to his normal routine when he'd been ill too.
