DD used to sleep pretty well but we have recently moved her in to her own room and i think its freaked her out a bit. the first night was fine. she fed to sleep as usual and slept amazingly well. but since then it's all gone pear shaped.

she has been getting really over tired, even during the day when she usually sleeps in her rocker chair, she is really fighting it. everything seems to distract her even in a dark room! i can see that she starts to get tired and proceed to feed to sleep as we have always done, but now something always seems to wake her up and then she won't want to feed again and i end up rocking her to sleep, which i really don't want to get in to the habit of. sometimes she will be start to get tired at say, 8pm but ends up awake till 10.30 after several atempts to put her in her cot when she has already fallen asleep on me.

tonight i had to swaddle her (haven't needed to do this since she was tiny) and sing to her while rocking her in my arms and then put her in her cot, while still singing to her, and then she finally went to sleep at 11pm! what can i do to break this cycle and get her to chill out?!

Sounds similar to my ds who turned six months last weekend. He has been in his own room for a few weeks and was sleeping great - 9 - 10 hours straight overnight! And had naturally stopped feeding to sleep and would go down awake in cot with dummy and mobile. Used to have naps in the day after approx. 2 hours awake and would go down easily in his cot.

However over the last two weeks he has started to really fight sleep both day and night. And will now only feed to sleep when he is absolutely knackered. Most evenings I am lucky to get him down for the night before 11pm, and he is now waking at 1 - 2 am and then again at 6ish.

He has just had his bottom two teeth come through, and is also doing loads developmentally - has just learned to roll over, sit up on his own, etc so I am putting it down to this or maybe a growth spurt and hoping it will pass :). Sorry not much help but thought I would share.

yeah i thought maybe it could be a developmental thing. nice to know i'm not the only ones though! hope it improves for both ofus soon. i thought i had it pretty good when she was sleeping ten hours or so at night, i kept thinking it must be too good to be true, it appears i was right :)

DD has started rolling onto her front in the night and i don't think she particularly likes is as this is when she usually wakes up. she can roll back but i think she's too half asleep to do it! it takes her alot of effort when she's awake!
