CC for a 6 month old - How?

My DS is 6 months old and sleeps relatively ok at night (possibly due to the routine of bath, bottle, bed etc..), but during the day he very rarely naps (and when he does only for around 45 mins.

We are considering CC as whenever placed in his cot, he just starts crying and becomes inconsolable and just cant seem to settle himself to sleep.

How exactly do we know when to intervene?
Is it when he starts bubbling? Or full on screaming?
When we enter the room, occasionally he starts just laughing.....Surely not useful if trying CC!!
Any help greatly appreciated!!!

Does he seem tired a lot of the time? Some days my ds doesn't seem to need much sleep at all. 45 mins is a pretty good nap time.

Has he got bad associations with the cot, will he nap better in the car seat or buggy?

He seems to get tired very quickley, sometimes after an hour of being awake. he will nap in the car. If we get him up after an hour of gurning thinking maybe he isnt tired he just cries gets really grumpy and rubs his eyes. sometimes he will fall asleep no problem but usually in the evening he refuses to go for a nap. he just lies in his cot moaning and almost crying.
dont think he minds his cot all the time though.

Does he feed off to sleep in the day? You say in the evening he has the bottle and then off to bed.

Not really, He tends to be fussy about bottles during the day....Only really enjoys 1st bottle of the day and the last 1 before bed.
Does enjoy solids, but yes, he does seem to take a little more bottle while lying in cot during the day than he would if he were being fed elsewhere?

Could it be that he is getting overtired? My 6mo ds gets up at 6.30ish, has a short nap at 9 (around 45 mins) then a longer nap at lunch (around 2 1/2 hours).
