My ds 6 months has been waking suddenly screaming. When I go in and see him I have to pick him up but even then he does not stop crying for 5 mins. he seems so panicked like he has had a huge scare. It takes time for himto even realise thatim holding him hes insucha state.

Has anyone else experienced this. He is teething and has had a nastyvirul bug but im not sure if this is connected.

I hate seeing him so upset but im not sure whats causing this.

Thanks

could it be night terrors? Don't know what age they start or teething pain?

It does seem like he is frightened by something so it could be night terrors. He has just woke again but thankfully drifted back off when I gave him his dummy.
I have also been giving him anbesol for teething.

I wasnt sure if he was a bit young to be having night terrors.

I would think teething pain is the most likely. He's too young for night terrors.

DS did the same between 6 and 12 months a few times. We went down the night terror line, looked it up etc..It was very different from the usual teething/hunger, but everything said he was too young.

His teeth do seem to bother him quite a bit.Ill just ride it out and keep going with the anbesol. He has had 5mls of medised tonight as well.
Fingers crossed the next tooth doesnt hurt so bad.

Just to mention, night terrors can start from 6 months, so not necessarily too young
