Swaddling older babies

DD is 13 weeks and a chunky 16lbs. We've been swaddling her pretty much since birth and she doesn't really sleep unless she's swaddled. If her arms get loose, she wakes herself up chobbling on her hands or just waving her arms around.

Trouble is, her swaddling blanket (which has a kind of pocket for her legs to go into and flaps that wrap round arms and body), is getting a bit small. Swaddling wraps for bigger babies all look a bit over-engineered, with velcro and zips etc. I'd prefer to just swaddle with a large muslin square like these but they are very expensive.

So my question is... can you just buy muslin like this on a roll from a fabric shop? I've had a look online but it's impossible to tell if it's the same kind of soft, stretchy fabric or something completely different.

Any thoughts? TIA!

I think you can buy muslin from haberdashers.

However it's not recommended to swaddle older babes, especially when they start rolling. Can you wean her off gradually by making the swaddle looser over time?
