From sleeping bag to bed covers

In anticipation of of my 21mth dd going into a bed at some point, we have stopped using her sleeping bags. She now has covers in her cot, but she never stays under them! She always ends up at the other end of the cot uncovered. She is a real fidget, but her feet are freezing in the morning. She wont keep socks on. With the weather being as it has been lately there have been some cold nights and I cant keep going in all night covering her over again. Any wise tips? I really dont want to go back to sleeping bags.

Is it because she is wriggling around or are the covers slipping off? I bought one of these and it works really well. You do have to shorten it for the cot/cotbed as it's designed for a single.

I have this issue too. My 21mth DS is also a wriggler. He kept waking in the night upset b/c his teddies were getting lost in the duvet & he was cold & I resorted to dressing him in vest & long sleeved fleece walk-in sleeper like I would do in the middle of winter - honestly!

Anyway a couple of days ago Id had enough of it & I relented & the bags came back out & he is much happier. Looks like we'll try the duvet again at a later date when he will hopefully be more receptive.

Thanks blackteaplease the clips look great, I will give them a try, though I think its because she wriggles out rather than they slip off. She is still in the cot so the sides keep them tucked in quite well but she still escapes them! She loves to have her feet free and kick them around!

omama I am trying not to go back to the bags. The plan was to get her used to covers now, while its warmer (hmm) so she wouldnt be really freezing come winter. The bags have been fantastic but now she is not knowing what covers are for!

Try sleep suits with feet and let her move around. She'll get used to it - took DS a while but he got there in the end.

flostar - this was our plan too - for exactly same reason - he's never ever used a blanket/duvet & also we want him used to it before winter. I didn't want to go back to bags either but we had the most horrendous screaming NW & he very rarely wakes at night so it was an extreme reaction! The duvet is still on his bed as he doesn't want me to take it off now but he doesn't want it on either Confused So he is in the bag - sigh. I did say to DH earlier I do want him to get used to being without it.

I say stay consistent & she will get it. Hmmm should take my own advice eh?!

Normal size duvet turned horizontally and tucked in. Work well for us and got him staying in bed/ not slipping covers

Omama that must have been awful, its always worse when they scream at night isnt it? It sounds like he wants the security of being in it. At least when the bag goes he will be very used to seeing his bedding.Luckily dd hasnt been upset by it and likes to have the cover over her when we put her down, but then her legs start going and its off.

Lw10 I love this idea, so simple but never would have thought of it! So far have used a sheet and blanket, still need to get her a duvet. I was waiting until she goes into a bed but as I can use it that way I will get one asap.
Thanks for all the great advice x
