Wake to sleep

Last night i tried the wake to sleep method on my 13 month old ds to try and break the habitual 5.30 wake up. I set the alarm for 4.30 and then went into ds and tickled his cheek and he started to stir, he stretched his arms and turned his head then went back to sleep. He then woke at 5am!!!! Anyone any experience of wake to sleep?

Is 5.30am when he wakes up ready to start the day? I don't think it works in those instances, it's more for habitual waking during the night. We did it a couple of times with DD when she went through phases of waking up at around 11pm every night and it worked a treat!

If it's any consolation, we've had phases of early mornings too (5.30/6am) but thankfully they usually pass after a while... you might just have to wait this one out and hope for the best!

He's not really ready to start the day at 5.30, at first he seems ready to get up, but within the hour, he's tired again, rubbing his eyes and whinging so he really does need that extra hour before waking. I thought i'd try it because it does seem as if 5.30am is habitual waking more than being ready to get up, however i am starting to resign myself to that fact that this is indeed another phase we just have to ride out! Nice to hear it does pass!
