We are having problams settling dd to sleep at night she is 16 months.

Currently (the last 6 nights) I am rocking her to sleep this is giving me back ache and she is crying lots. She will not let me put her down in the cot, well I put her down she if fine for about 20 minutes or so and then she will start getting upset. She will also make herself sick if i dont pick her up not particularly from crying but she makes kind of wretching noise and will stick her fingers in her mouth causig her to be sick she can be fine and do this withig a few minutes obviously this doesnt happen often as I pick her up first.

About 3/4 months ago we changed the bedtime routine around so she was no longer breastfed to sleep (it wasnt working anymore anyway we could be feeding for two hours before any aigns of sleep) and all was going well she was settling after about 30-55mins of runnig about her cpt and playing, until about two weeks ago it wasnt perfect but certainly better than before and most night wakings had also dissapeared. We put this down to teething but given some calpol just before bed she was sellf settling again albeit taking a lot longer than previously. She is asking me for a breasfeed when we go into her bedroom but i dont want to do this as the bf to sleep was hard enough to break the first time around though I did give her a feed last week in her bedroom as teething etc.

I just dont know what to do I would like her to slef settle again without me needing to rock her but I obviously cant put her in the cot and sit down (i dont leave the room until she is asleep usually) as she will eventually make herself sick. I have tried in the past putting her in bed earlier but this causes her to wake in the middle of the night for an hour or so, I have thought about overtiredness but she has a good nap most days, her bedtime has been pretty cosistent for a while now and there isnt really much leaway in bedtime due to dinner etc anyway. She also has teddies etc but she genrally chucks these out of the cot srtaight away. Any ideas what I can do?
