Questions about co-sleeping?

If you co-slept at what age did your DD/DS move into their own room? Who decided, you or the child?
My DS is not a great sleeper (1yr) but he sleeps much better with me. I'm thinking of just making this a permant arrangement since I love having the sleepy cuddles. Any advise welcome!

I co slept with dd till she was 2.6. I decided so now she sleeps in a toddler bed next to my bed in my room. shes 3 this month.

I was quite happy with her in my bed but we are ttc number 2 and so want dd to be in a bed before any major changes so she doesn't feel like shes just been put in to the bed because of the new baby.

DD does come into the bed at 5-6am and i dont mind what so ever as she sleeps for another hour or so.

If you are happy with it i'd say go for it as you are both getting your sleep and thats all that matters.

I co-slept but not for as long as you. I have a Sri Lankan auntie and her two (9 and 7) still sleep in with her and my uncle and they are perfectly happy with that.

If you are happy then I would say that's all that matters! I felt guilty for co-sleeping until DD was 5 months and then always reminded myself that in many Asian countries it is completely the norm for many children into their teens and beyond. I would enjoy the cuddles!!!

One thing I'm worried about is if DS will need DH or I to fall asleep. Can I teach him to fall asleep independently and still co-sleep?
When you moved your DC into their own bed, how did you do it? How long did it take for them to be happy in their own bed?
Thanks Grin

Dd took to her own bed on day two. She loved her bed and we made a big deal about her being a big girl now and how Winnie would keep her safe. (she has a winnie the poo bed)
I just sat by her bed and she fell asleep afte 5 or so minutes.
Now I just read her a story and lullaby and then leave her to it and she is pretty good.

I suppose its all different with different children. But when i was co sleeping i just left her on the bed and carried on pottering around with the door open so she could hear me and then she fell asleep and was fine.

good luck!
