Sleep with dummy

My DD is 4 months old, she has been in her cot for about 2 weeks now. She sleeps from 7 till about half 5. I can put her down awake and she puts herself to sleep. BUT last few nights she crys every half hour or so, still asleep but kind of wailing because she has lost her dummy. I turned the monitor down to mute low noise the night before last and I slept through but DH said he heard DD crying and went through to her at about 4am. Couldn't do it last night because I don't want her crying and being ignored unless I should do the CCthing? Any advice would be appreciated. The constant up and down is wearing me down.

For us, we used to try to guide small child's hand to find the soother, where possible, rather than just poppingg it back in.
Took a couple of weeks, but it meant that sc started doing the active searching while still asleep and we then only had to go in once or twice a night instead of every hour.
