cot or bed

I went for a two year check for my ds and the HV told me to put him in his bed and not in a cot. I think that there is no need for creating another problem when he sleeps in his cot. If i put him in bed he would not stay in it. Where does your 2 year old sleep.

My 2.3 year old sleeps in a bed. Some of his friemds sleep in a cot.

I say you should stay with what is working for you - your health visitor is hardly going to be at your house during the night.

Won't be changing it into a bed until I absolutely have to.

Keep him in a cot. It's stressful changing over. My DD's used to roam around their room until all hours and fall asleep on the floor by the stairgate in the doorway .

Thanks so much for your answer. madmarchhare i totally agree with you. When i asked the hv why a 2 year old should sleep in his bed she did not give me any satisfactory answer.

Don't do it! If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I put DD in bed in December at 23 months. She LOVED it for 10 days..... The next 2 weeks were hell - 3 hours to get her to sleep and then various getting up in the night etc.. I then took the bed apart and put her back in her cot and she was asleep in 15 mins and slept for 12 hours again. I have learned from my madness.... and she is staying in there until she's 12

Absolutely keep him in his cot!! My 3 yr old DS would still be there but he is very tall for his age and was just too big.

Starting the bed thing with all it's attendant "I'm getting out of my bed for the three hundredth time" games is something to be put off as long as poss in my view!!
