i've put DD in a 1 tog sleeping bag naked, will she be ok? all the guideline say to use a vest and a 0.5 tog but we dont have one... so i'm thinking that just the 1 tog on its own will be ok, that makes sense doesn't it?

she kicks the blankets off, does acrobatics around the cot and wakes up several times with out a sleeping bag!

My 12mo DD has been in a 1 tog bag and nappy all week with the heat.

We don't have any 0.5 tog bags either, I don't actually ever remember seeing them in the shops. She won't sleep without a bag of some sorts on and also does acrobatics round her bed all night so blankets are a no no.

Our hyper sensitive BT monitor is saying its 25 degrees in her room, but we have every window in the house open, a fan on just outside her door and have only just shut the back door in our kitchen as got sick of swatting flies, so not sure what else we can do to bring the temperature down!

OhWhatAPalaver · 27/05/2012 22:56

same here, there's nothing much we can do to cool the room down. we have a fan on and windows open.

she was in her 1 tog bag the other night but tried with just a vest and cellular blanket last night and she was up every few hours. i think its only slightly hotter now than it was on fri so should be fine i think.

I'm sure she'll be fine too.

DD has been up in the night lots this week too but I think the heat and a couple of birthday related late nights have been jointly to blame!

Here's hoping to a good night for both of us tonight :)

My 5 month DD is in just a nappy and a 2.5 tog grobag that i just button at the shoulders and leave open at the side. Our room is 24 degrees at night and I was worried this was too much but my 1 tog bags are 6-18 months and just a touch too big round the head and she's really getting to the limit of wearing her 0-6 month bags as she's long so I'm loathed to buy a 1 tog for the sake of a few weeks.

gnocci · 28/05/2012 09:36

Been 27degrees in DS's room and he's just had a tshirt and nappy on along with an extra beaker of water. He's 19m.

KatAndKit · 28/05/2012 11:38

Mine has just been in a vest overnight as it has been 25 degrees in the bedroom. Last night it got a bit cooler with the window open so we had a sheet on him too. Don't see the need for the grobags in this weather.

MimsyBorogroves · 28/05/2012 11:56

My 5 month old has been in a similarly hot room with just a nappy and a 1tog grobag. No chance of him sleeping without the bag as it's become a bit of a prop. He wasn't overheating, and, whilst he did wake up 3/4 times for a BF that's pretty standard anyway.

Rootatoot · 28/05/2012 15:39

My 9mo is in 1 tog bag and his room said 25*c last night. Had him just in a short sleeve body suit thingy. He has been sleeping much better and seems perfectly fine. I just tell myself they do have babies abroad so I'm sure it's fine!

OhWhatAPalaver · 29/05/2012 22:00

that's exactly what i was thinking rootatoot, i sometimes wonder if i worry too much about the temperature of the room... all i know is that the sleeping bag is essential if DD is going to sleep!

I got a 0.5 tog gro bag online, Precious Little One

TheSurgeonsMate · 30/05/2012 13:30

O, I'm not sure what you think might go wrong? Anecdotally, I can tell you that mine sleeps naked in her 1.0 tog and that's been fine. So far?!

OhWhatAPalaver · 30/05/2012 13:57

i think it's due to the NHS making us all overly paranoid about overheating and the temperature of our little ones' bedrooms and what they should and shouldn't wear to bed... the 1 tog has been great all week, DD never felt too hot or anything, she seems very comfortable in it :)

Sorry, palaver, I understand you now. I thought you were hesitating about the baby being naked in the bag! But you're wondering if that combo is as cool as the other combo that the blurb suggests. I don't really know the answer to that.

fhdl34 · 30/05/2012 20:27

it's gone up to 25 the last few nights and I've had her with just a nappy and now bag. She's slept fine. She has an anti roll thing round which I think also insulates her a bit. In the morning her chest is cool but her back is nice and warm. Makes me realise I've been dressing her too warm for a while
