Sudden night waking at 13 months

I am hoping somebody has some suggestions on how I can get my 13month old back to sleeping. She has slept through from being 3 months old (7.30-7.30) and to date this hasn't been much affected by teeth, illness or a change of environment.

The last two weeks she has woken usually around midnight screaming and standing up in her cot. When I go through she holds her hands out and stops crying as soon as I pick her up. She starts to fall back asleep on me and I try to put her down when she is still semi awake so she is aware of her surroundings if she wakes again. As soon as she is being lowered into the cot she starts to scream again (even if she was pretty much flat out) and stand back up in the cot.

This sometimes goes on for hours and sometimes for half an hour. (Worst one was 3.5 hours). I haven't fed her or brought her into our bed and have on one occasion been successful in getting her to stay in her cot with me sitting next to it. I'm pretty sure that was sheer exhaustion on her part however as she had been up for 3hours.

She has had her teeth very early and is certainly getting her last few through at the mo. She has also begun waking at 6/6.30 screaming again - clearly still sleepy and wanting to settle.

I have tried putting her back down in her cot and leaving the room for a few minutes (even is she is on her feet and screaming before I reach the door) but it doesn't seem to be having much effect. I give her ibuprofen/calpol before bed and in the night for the teething.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated - i am soooo tired!

I'm disappointed you haven't any replies because it sounds like you were talking about my LO. Jessica is now 13 months old & regularly waking at 3/4am......screaming & standing in her cot. She's slept through the night since birth, has a mouthful of teeth that havent bothered her, is in a room of her own & has a blackout blind. A friend who has only boys thinks its night terrors that her boys get age 3 but she recons Jessica is advanced for her age ;-) Any ideas?

We are having exactly the same proem with DS (13 months). Had months of 7-7 and now every night around 2am he wakes and just cries and cries. I'm linking it to my DS having become infusion, has yours?

I made the mistake (I think) of feeding him a couple of times when it got to 3 hours awake for both of us and I'm not 100% sure that it's not hunger that wakes him still as he's really getting through food during the day but I'm loath to start depending on that again as it feels like a vicious circle ...

Any advice absolutely gratefully received. Tonight I gave him a fresh nappy (his was v full and wet), some Neurofen as he sounded generally to be in pain and I'm sitting in the bathroom outside his bedroom listening to him struggle to get to sleep, sigh .... Sad
